Jim and Me

Ride Day 5: Our Official Greeter
Originally uploaded by donXfive.
This was at breakfast in Williamsport, at the Williamsport Home (formerly: "The Wiliamsport Home for the Friendless") -- it seemed to be an ordinary nursing home, but maybe they were indigent or whatever...

Jim was our official greeter, the breakfast line started behind him. Everyone basically introduced themselves, made small talk and thanked him for the hospitality, etc. He was in heaven -- sometimes when you're sick you have to fight just to be seen as human.

(I have to point out that not all the residents were happy with our presence, some were downright grumpy that their favorite tables were in use when they came in breakfast..)

Our buyers finally accepted our counter bid for repairs to pool -so all is in forward motion again
Our movers will pack anything we can't finish-they come on 8/29 to prepare for loading and load & move us 8/30 after we officially sell house.
They will head to Jackson (in the interim we will be signing for the new house in Jackson)
When that's done, we can unload truck.
Somewhere in between our buyers have to "walk through" our house before signing.
Likewise we have to walk through new house before owning, to be sure all is OK.
Give a call. I'm concerned about Dad. He's very tense and is losing weight.
His cardiologist will be happy- Dr told Dad to give up his one AM donut at bkfst 2 months ago and he dropped about 15 lbs!

On another subject- you looked sop natural with Jim.
It's true, people look first at the external aspects of a person and stop.
It's a human thing.
Not till one of your own has an affliction can one usually see the person under the pain.
I see it with Joe and I now feel it somewhat as an older woman in a very upbeat wealthy youthful town.
I am often looked "through" as if invisible.
I's so strange to me.
I can't imagine how dehumanizing it is for those we consider different, odd, "outcast" or reality shocks.
