It Seems Like Years Since It's Been Clear

Morning weigh-in: 185.5# 9% BF

Not much to report, had a pretty good if somewhat "regressional" weekend: skipped the ride and went out Friday night; gym -- no yoga -- then a grueling road ride in NJ with my friend Joe on Saturday, and out again for the evening; and on Sunday I slept in, did some chores before a more mellow PA road ride on Sunday. Pretty much the "standard configuration."

Meantime: I see that the "Gonzales eight" scandal is not only growing legs, but arms, claws and fangs as well.

Nice weather for a day or so, then rain -- but at least it's warmer, and sunny past 7:00.

I keep reading about subpoenas here, subpoenas there, investigations here, investigations there; but I've become so disillusioned by what
this administration has been able to flush down the toilet that I'm skeptical about ever having justice prevail. As long as the power of pardons is in the hands of the major culprit, I won't hold out hope for real justice to prevail. However....if it should happen, you'll hear a YA-HOO from my house to yours.

As they say, 11/7 changed everything, these congressional invstigations now have teeth.

By the way, this is a major political earthquake: a bungled but systematic attempt, by the White House, to illegally undermine and subvert government accountability mechanisms, has just been uncovered. The architect of "legalized torture" was trying to turn the most powerful law enforcement agency in the country, into a tool to attack political enemies while protecting corrupt friends -- this is the kind of thing that causes Congressional heads to explode, all but the lamest of Bush apologists. The edifice can't take this kind of strain for long, and I think we've hardly scratched the surface.

I thought the last election changed everything too; but with talk of pardons and vetoes, I honestly started thinking we lost our system of checks and balances. They laugh, they smirk...they're arrogant...as though they know something the rest of us don't...as though they KNOW they have nothing to fear, because they've changed the system in their favor, secretly, behind closed doors; and we won't find out about it until it's too late.

I want you to be right. I can't begin to tell you how much I want you to be right. You're brighter than I am; so, hopefully, you ARE right....and I can't wait to congratulate you for it.

Meanwhile I wait with bated breath for the s*hit to hit the fan.

BTW, (away from the political topic), I was hitting 90% heart rate during my warmup. That's not happening any more, so that's a bit of an improvement. Also, I have a BP machine at home and have been monitoring my BP. It appears to be dropping since I started the elliptical; so, on March 11, I stopped my BP Rx to see what would happen. Well, without the BP Rx, my BP is running anywhere from 117/77 to 138/85 (highest so far). If I can keep it in that range without my Rx, I'm going off the Rx altogether. If, however, I see it start to rise again, I'll put myself back on it. I'm not gonna put any more into my system than I have to.

Good health news, Toni! I'd be careful stopping the medicine though, a lot of them you have to be "eased off" and the doctor may not say anything, thinking that since you'll be on it forever anyway (according to his plan), there's no need for you to know about withdrawal issues. Word to the wise...

You may be right; so, as of today, I started breaking the tablet in half. I'll take half a day for a few weeks to see how it goes, then try 1/2 every other day, etc.
