All Is Quiet, On New Year's Day
Welcome to 2007! I have a feeling it's going to be a good year...
Went out last night to a friend's house in Jersey, to help send 2006 on its way, then I went walking today up at the Water Gap, to welcome the new year. Posted photos of same at flickr.

Oh, shoot! That would have been a good shot of you if only she had been more steady with the camera. The self portrait threw me. At first glance, it looks like a standing bear.........not at all like you. I'm surprised at how much greenery there still is at the Gap. Some of the other places you've posted pictures of pale in comparison.
Funny, I keep getting the feeling that 2007 will be a good year, too; but then, I feel 7 is a lucky number. Hopefully, we're right.
Yeah, I was pretty disappointed in that photo too, and didn't even realize that it was bad until I got home -- on the trail I resisted the impulse to ask her to take another, for fear of seeming impolite. Really nice woman, had a cool conversation with her on the way down the hill, I got the distinct impression that she believed we were in Pennsylvania rather than New Jersey.
Those self-portraits though, I liked the way they came out. It looks a little weird probably because I'm wearing a rain hat.
Oh, I'm sure the reason it resembles an upright bear to me is because of what you were wearing.
It's a cool shot though.
As usual great shots.
You have tradition in your blood.
Grandma's father,Papa, always took a walk (but just around the block!) in Bklyn to bring the New Year in, and Uncle John also followed that tradition.
Actually Dad & I do it too...we step out on the porch at the stoke of New Year's and breathe in the fresh air!!
Happy 2007!! A good year for sure!
