Apocalypse Then and Now

Morning weigh-in: 175.5#, 12% BF

Remember how I said that Saturday's yoga class (with Michael Lear) really got me stoked again, and I felt good to be able to hang in the more advanced class? Well, at last night's class I heard that he and his wife are moving to NYC, to be closer to her job. Anyway, good workout last night, then laundry nite.

Some science: Looks like there's a hole in the asteroid belt, new evidence for the "meteor killed the dinosaurs" theory. Meantime, in our own bid for extinction, the ice caps are melting, and wheat prices are rising. I just might live to see the end of the world after all...

Tonight is bike/gym, then probably corn on the cob.

UPDATE: Fixed the link to Michael Lear. Skipped the ride, hit the gym.

I hope the possibility of your living to see the end of the world is wrong, but I share your fears.

Hey, Don, have you picked your candidate yet? I'm still not able to focus in on any one person. I list their pros and cons on paper and just can't get excited about any one candidate. There's so much more I should probably know, but I've reached the point of getting tired of listening and reading. Besides, I thought we sent a message in the November 2006 election; but I now view the Democrats elected as spineless. IMO, they're just Republicans in disguise at this point. Why else would they be kow-towing to Bush's financial demands for the war, as well displaying a seemingly agreeable attitude about keeping our troops there? I'm tired of the double-talk. H-E-L-P!! If you don't respond to this (using words I can understand....LOL), my feelings will be crushed! And, if you can't respond here, an email will do fine. I need input from lots of people to help UNconfuse me. ;-)

Well, Democrats... I heard someone (Atrios?) say we need more Democrats, but what we really need is better Democrats.

(This is the big theme of the netroots & bloggers, by the way, and it has been for some time. It was the whole point of Lamont vs Lieberman, and is the driving force behind all the obsessing over legislative primaries, the 50-state strategy, etc.)

I haven't made a choice yet, but to tell you the truth I don't really mind any of the frontrunners -- what don't you like about them? Policy statements, personal style, or just a general distaste you've been conditioned to feel by watching Fox?

Fox? I wouldn't waste my time watching Fox! As far as I'm concerned, they've been bought by the conservative right. The last thing I want is another conservative Republican to be president and follow in Bush's footsteps.

There are things I DO like about, oh maybe, four of the Dem. candidates. But, for each thing I do like, there's something I don't like. That's what's throwing me. AND there are those issues I'm not sure about. For instance, do I really want to be compelled to see a doctor under Edwards' health care plan? On the other hand, there are so many who need health care and can't afford it. But, on the other hand, I don't want to be dictated to about my health care. I like some of Hillary's ideas but hold it against her for voting in favor of the war. She's intelligent. I can't believe she just fell for Bush's lies. I'm not so sure I agree with her hesitation in bringing the troops home quickly either. Also, I don't like her being so much in favor of lobbying; because, imo, that's where large corporations get their way and the people's voices get ignored. Does Obama have enough experience? On the other hand, look what experience has gotten us. Is Joe Biden really the front shooter he appears to be? I can't take Gravel seriously, because he makes me laugh at everything he says. I don't mean that viciously......the man seems to disagree with all the other Dem. candidates and voices it in a way that cracks me up. Geez, maybe I should take him seriously, huh? LOL Kucinich just doesn't cut it for me; and I don't even know why, since he didn't vote in favor of the war, right? And so it goes. I won't even consider a Rep. I've already had over seven years too much Republican dictatorship. I don't like the way they use religion to get votes, and I don't believe they have a right to be in anyone's bedroom or tell a woman what she can or cannot do with her own body. Anyway, do you get the gist of why I'm so confused and can't make an absolute choice? Or does what I'm saying confuse you the way it does me?

Make that "straight shooter," not "front shooter." Geez, I'm even more confused than I thought.
